Instrumentation and Control Valves for Upstream Oil & Gas Production

Upstream Oil & Gas production processes run continuously in harsh environments: abrasive process slurries, corrosive chemicals, high process temperatures, poor steam quality, and other factors can damage instruments and equipment, increasing process downtime, product variability, and production costs. Azbil’s industrial automation solutions for upstream oil & gas production applications provide peace of mind when measuring and controlling pressure, level, flow, and temperature.

  • Field Instrumentation: Electromagnetic flowmeters, multivariable mass flow vortex meters, and advanced pressure transmitters provide accurate, stable, and reliable measurements of cooling water, wastewater, brine water, heavy media flow, and steam.
  • Control Valves and Control Valve Positioners: High accuracy control valves and smart valve positioners allow for tight process control and reduced product variability in critical applications.

Introducing the MagneWTM Electromagnetic Flowmeters 1 / 4

Gage, absolute, and differential pressure transmitters measure flow, level, and pressure in the harshest environments.

  • Every Model GTX advanced pressure transmitter features standard Bilingual DE / HART® digital communications protocols to extend the life of legacy DE loops — no need to replace working pressure transmitters when upgrading to HART®; just reconfigure the already-installed transmitter when you are ready.
  • Remote seal and extended stem options are available for high-temperature and highly corrosive applications.

MagneW™ Electromagnetic Flowmeters

Ideal for accurate flow measurement of conductive fluids, with options available for difficult black liquor applications. Pressure drop is minimal; electromagnetic meters are not as susceptible to non-laminar flow as other instruments and can be installed closer to bends and elbows in pipes.

MagneW PLUS+ 4-wire flowmeter

MagneW™ PLUS+ Smart High-Performance 4-Wire Electromagnetic Flowmeters

— converter model MGG14C (integral or remote) paired with flanged detector flow tube model MGG18F or wafer-style flow tube MGG18D utilizes a mirror-finished PFA liner mechanically locked onto a metal substrate for years of trouble-free flow measurement: no blistering, peeling, or warping, even under thermal shock or vacuum conditions.

MagneW Two-Wire PLUS+ flowmeter

MagneW™ Two-Wire PLUS+ Loop-Powered Electromagnetic Flowmeters

— integral model MTG18A and remote model MTG14C/MTG18B combine proven performance with low power requirements. All MTG meters are FM non-incendive for use in Class I, II, and III hazardous environments and don't require dedicated signal and excitation cables, reducing wiring, installation, and operation costs in remote areas.

Multivariable Mass Flow Vortex Flowmeters

Reduced pressure drop for superheated steam flow measurement. Density compensation gives accurate and reliable mass flow measurement, and optional RTD temperature sensors provide real-time energy metering.

Inline vortex flow meter

Inline models AX22 and AX24

Can be configured for pipe sizes from 1/2”–12” (15 mm to 300 mm); reduced-bore options locally increase fluid velocity for low-flow applications, effectively reducing the low-flow cutoff point.

Insertion vortex flow meter

Insertion model AX23

Is an economical option for installation in larger pipes — hot tappable, with no process shutdown required for installation.

Large Cv values and high rangeability provide reliability and tight flow shutoff, suitable for general use conditions with water, steam, gas, and other process media. Additional options are available for extreme temperatures, oil-free treatment, and more.

  • Raised-flange models AGVB and AGVM meet ANSI150 (AGVB) and ANSI300 (AGVM) pressure ratings and are designed for excellent flow control and minimal pressure loss in a compact valve body. Available in nominal port sizes from 1/2” to 4”, they meet Class IV, IV-S1, V, and VI IEC valve seat leakage standards. Coupled with our actuators, smart valve positioners, and accessory items such as pressure regulators, Azbil AGVB/AGVM control valves are ideal for general-use flow control in Upstream Oil & Gas Production applications.
Shop Control Valves

Reliable, universal, and easy to use and service, the AVP300 and AVP700 series positioners are compatible with valves from all major manufacturers worldwide. The body design isolates electrical circuits from process media, protecting the positioner from damage due to moisture, oil, and dust. Advanced diagnostics inform users of process conditions and deterioration of the valve itself.

  • AVP300 series features an auto-calibration cycle activated by an externally available switch, maintaining hazardous location integrity.
  • AVP700 series features integrated pressure sensors, enhanced valve diagnostic capabilities, and a local user interface (pushbuttons and display) to auto-calibrate, configure settings, and check diagnostics without compromising the explosion-proof construction.
